SnakeIllustration from Deliria RPG (“Goblin Market” suppliment) Text written by Elizabeth Jordan Leggett From the Tree The Snake could see The world beyond the Gates. It had been so long With the apple gone The two had sealed their fates. So from the Tree A branch he broke And an apple rotted there He took a seed And slithered out And planted it with care. But what inside the Gates Was once a simple seed Beyond the Gates and in the world Twins sprung up from Man’s Need. One twin was Want We all know him And he knows us I’ll bet The other is Attachment With him we cry and fret. The two twins share a common face And they chose the self same bride Her name is Fear She clings so near The groom she stands beside. Fear’s womb brought forth Twins of her own From each dread brother’s seed Her daughter’s name Obsession Her son’s name simply Greed. Each human soul Has met them all Each member of this clan. The Snake’s foul plot And Apple rot The test and death of Man. © Marrus Art. All rights reserved. |
