After Katrina, people asked why we didn’t build our houses on pontoons, or use canals like Venice, or abandon our beloved New Orleans altogether.

I thought, if the houses grew wings to soar above, while the live oaks intertwined branches and roots below, then the City would become stronger for the trials she has overcome.
