Humans put animals in awkward positions to which we'd never subject ourselves. Birds in cages, dogs on leashes, lions jumping through flaming hoops.
To dress women in riding tack, impaled by poles, leaping gracefully, seemed a wonderful extension of this conceit....
I based this lady off of Halle Berry, and “Fiore” means “flower” in Italian.

This type of carousel horse, with her head pulled in and her cropped mane, is called a Trojan horse.
All of my Carouselle Girls have different names, and this one is doing a deep backbend with the horse’s head essentially becoming a codpiece, Neleh is perfect – Helen, of Troy – backwards!

Sea Creatures
This fishy coquette appeared after a visit to an aquarium. Suddenly, my head was...swimming.
Her pet is a dumbo octopus, her parasol an impaled vampire squid. I invented neither of these creatures:)
This is a sister piece to Aquaestrienne.
Available as a:
8.5 x 11” print
A well-dressed coquette, a piscine siren, astride her seahorse steed.
Her fishnets are held by a delicate fish hook garter belt, and as she has a tail rather than two legs, her stirrups are adjusted accordingly!
This is a sister piece to Promenaiad.
Available as a:
- 8.5 x 11” print
- Original available, please contact for info
This voluptuous siren and "Seahorses" are a matched set.
Trace the flow of each piece – each mirrors the other.
Women and water, ebb and flow, the moon's tidal pull...
The third part of the triptych is Watermaid.

I painted her face with my fingertips to get those translucent color blends - is she a sleeping mermaid, or a drowned Ophelia?

From Wikipedia: “There are three plural forms of octopus: octopuses , octopi, and octopodes. Currently, octopuses is the most common form in … the US, octopodes is rare, and octopi is often objectionable”, as it derives from the mistaken assumption that the word is Latin, when it is actually Latinized Greek.
And now you can sleep at night!
